Welcome to my Substack! I’m going to be trying a few different things here, but ultimately this place is for essays and creative writings that don’t belong on my social media accounts.

Who is Penelope Scott?

I’m an American young adult. My music got popular online while I was in college, which was obviously extremely lucky and also, if I’m honest, kind of weird. Also during that time, the pandemic took off. Big year.

When it became clear that music could become my career, I switched my major from political science to philosophy and ended up taking a class on philosophy of language. For my thesis project, I ended up studying philosophy of music informed by the theory of Universal Grammar and I became passionate about that whole realm of topics. I’m also interested in computer science, but I’m not proficient at it. I haven’t really tried to code since school.

You’re not likely to find a ton of information about my private life online. That’s on purpose. I’m very paranoid about privacy and the internet. Please do not track me down. The parasocial relationship only works if I’m allowed to go be a real girl somewhere else. For the most part people have been very kind about this, and it is definitely appreciated. Every one of you that could have creeped me out and chose not to is partially responsible for me continuing to be publicly creative. You guys not doxing me is the applause that keeps my Tinker Bell stage name from dying.
