Whoops I accidentally referred to an ant colony as a “hive”. I think technically hives are for bees, and I got confused bc I was thinking about the phrase “hive-mind”. Sorry!
This feels so on the nose for what it feels like to organize in socialist & leftist spaces. Watching other people commit to working together to acknowledge our collective experience, rife with humility and empathy, and then making a decision together on how to move forward together 🌸 give me all the hopecore community building collective action content eeeee
This was so helpful and informative. This kind of context is something I wish more artists did, these deep-dives into meaning and metaphor, so less things would be read at such face value. Man these rats must be good detectives /jk
Oh Hazards wasn’t so interesting… it was just named after when you’re driving and the car in front of you is going slow, and then they pull off to let you go faster so you flash ur hazard lights to say thank u. Idek if that’s a widespread thing haha
I legit listened to nothing but your music for a solid 5 months after Girl's Night and Mysteries for Rats dropped and I always wondered why they were released separately instead of being a single project since the time of them coming out was so similar. I think they both resonated so much I figured they were more similar in their themes than they actually were. Looking back and reading these posts I see the focus on the Mysteries more and why the split mattered conceptually between the two EPs. I'm glad there's a space here for you to share more about your ideas, it's so fun to hear about!
This was so incredibly interesting and I love how deeply your music connects to the social structures we live in. The idea of creating a maze we can't escape reminds me of this philosophy article I read once (https://slatestarcodex.com/2014/07/30/meditations-on-moloch/) about what perpetuates a system that everyone hates and wants to escape. The same idea exists there, that communication and a "god's-eye-view" could solve the problem, but no one within the system is capable of taking that crucial first step.
penelope is literally one of the only people I feel like actually gets me and my thought process and understands life on the depths that so many people don't perceive it on like omg these substracks are so great please keep them going!!!!

As amazing as you are at song-writing, I think you're even better at writing and thinking and feeling.

Will you explain the titles to your other albums in the future? Like Hazards for example? I think that would be cool🌸

On a preliminary skim - very interesting! I see many similar concepts. Thank you for sharing this article.
absolutely fascinating and something I'd never had the words to understand before, that's so cool.
